What we are looking for

A postdoctoral position in neuroscience is available in the team of “Tau-mediated neurodegeneration in Alzheimer’s disease” at the BioMed X Innovation Center in Heidelberg. The main aim of the group is to develop therapeutic strategies and biomarkers for Alzheimer’s disease based on tau post-translational modifications. We are looking for highly enthusiastic researchers to broaden our think-tank with her/his intellectual power and technical excellence. The ideal candidate would have a Ph.D. degree in biochemistry, cell biology or neurobiology and a strong background in the biochemical analysis of enzymes and their substrates.

Required skills

• Hands-on experience in the biochemical analysis of enzymatic activity in vitro, in mammalian cells and/or in vivo
• Hands-on experience in the biochemical analysis of post-translational modifications
• Excellent knowledge of the background literature on tau in Alzheimer’s disease
• Ability to work in a milestone-driven environment
• Independent thinking
• Experienced to work in interdisciplinary teams
• Excellent communication skills in English

Additional preferred skills

• FELASA certificate is an asset
• A background in mass spectrometry is an asset
• Experience in the analysis of proteolytic cleavage events in neurodegenerative disease

The post is offered for an initial term of one year, with the possibility of prolongation for up to one additional year.
